It's Fashion Doll...

Hi, I'm Ciara and I'm a 21 year old fashion graduate currently living in Milton Keynes. Posts consist of personal style, fashion and beauty.

August Favourites.

I’ve been meaning to do this post for about 2 weeks now and I’m finally getting round to it. How is it September already?! Although I love September as it’s one month away from my birthday, halloween and it’s Fashion Month!

So let’s get to it…

My first favourite this month is my monochrome backpack from Primark. I bought this in June and I’ve been using it quite a lot recently. You’d be surprised at what you can fit in there.

My second favourite has been Bio-Oil. I’ve used Bio-Oil on and off for about 5 years but the last 6/8 weeks I’ve been using it every evening. I began to use to as I suffer from quite bad scarring from having really bad acne as a teen, but I’ve found it’s helped my skin become a lot softer and hydrated. Fingers crossed I’ll see an improvement in my scarring too.

Another monthly favourite has been my Nivea Light Moisturising Day Cream. I use it every morning and find it a great base for my makeup. It’s also good because it has an SPF15 which is important, especially as I’ve started wearing my Nars Sheer Glow foundation again which has no SPF.

My forth favourite item this month has been Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub. Now I only bought this maybe 2 weeks ago but it is AMAZING! One, it smells delicious but it also makes my lips super soft. I suffer from cracked lips quite a lot no matter how much lip balm I use, so I’ve found this a life saver. I love putting it on just before my lipstick too which helps create the perfect base.

Last but not least, my final favourite has to be Becca Rose’s YouTube channel. I’ve been watching her videos for about 4/5 months now and I love her! She comes across really funny and I love her tutorials and hauls (I bought the above backpack after watching one of her videos.) So if you haven’t watched any of her videos before, definitely check her out! Here’s her link: https://m.youtube.com/user/voussontbeauetbelle

Schoolgirl Chic.

Today I wore all Primark everything except my shoes. You would never believe that this whole outfit including the necklace cost a total of £54! I do love Primark.
I bought this super cute knitted skirt a few days ago and was unsure what to wear with it, but I think this mohair jumper looks really cute.
I added my pastel necklace (which I adore) to give a bit more detail to the outfit.
I completed the look with my DM’s and my fabulous new coat. I’m in love with this coat and I’ve been waiting for weeks and weeks for it to launch in store. If I saw someone wearing it, I would think that it was £90 from Topshop not £30 from Primark. Bargain!

Monochrome.

I love love love this sleeveless jacket! It’s on trend and perfect to smarten up an outfit.
I teamed my Metallica band tee, black skinny jeans and leopard print shoes to complete the look.

Emmy Awards Best Dressed.

Red was a big hit on the red carpet at last nights Emmys. Stars such as January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Heidi Klum dazzled in the colour.

My top four gowns of the night were January Jones, Taylor Schilling, Lizzy Caplan and Sarah Hyland.

I must say my best dressed of the night had to go to Sarah Hyland. The Modern Family actress was a look of perfection when she walked the red carpet. The young star wore a Christian Siriano gown which was perfect for her. In addition, the ballerina bun and makeup was flawless just like the starlet.

Well done to Sarah’s team for the show stopping look.

Rip Company.

So last week Company magazine announced the decision to stop print editions of their magazine. I for one was very sad to hear the news.

They are one of the first fashion magazines to make the decision to stop producing physical copies of their magazine.

Everyone knows that print magazines have been on the decline over the years as more people downloaded onto their iPads instead.

I’m really going to miss print editions of Company as they were one of my favourites. The feel of the paper, the funky fonts, the perfect size, what’s not to love? I even created my dissertation with the same font, size and similar paper.

Company announced that the last print copy will be their October issue.

Will you be buying the last ever print copy of Company? I know I will.

Oh So Preppy.

I’ve not dressed like this in quite a while if I’m honest. I’m the type of person who doesn’t really have a certain style, I just dress how I feel that day. Today was preppy.

I’ve been searching for a good white shirt that isn’t too expensive and I’ve definitely found it. I bought this in Uniqlo about two weeks ago and it was only about £15. They’ve got some great colours in too so I might just have to buy a few.

Pastels Obsessed.

Now it’s no secret I’m a bit of a fangirl when it comes to pastels, and I certainly don’t shy away from wearing multiple pastel shades at once.
So, on Thursday I was in Manchester for a job interview and this is what I wore. I really like this outfit, not just because of the colours but the whole look. I’ll definitely be wearing if again but maybe with some Birkenstocks to dress it down a bit.
Can I also just mention this coat. It’s from Primark at only £23! It’s a beautiful shade, soft and lined. What more could a girl ask for?

Meeting My Idol.

So on Tuesday I made my way to Westfield to attend Alexa Chung’s book signing.
I was so excited as she is one of my idols. I didn’t think she could be any more beautiful until she arrived. Really you have to see her in person to see her true beauty.
I queued for 2 hours, then my turn came to go up to the table to get my book signed.
She was so lovely! I was a bit worried as you hear some people say when they meet celebrities that they were rude and we’re let down by them, but not Alexa.
She shook everyone’s hand, had a photo and seemed genuinely interested in talking to her fans.
When I went up she shook my hand, asked me how I was, and then made my day by saying she loved my jumper! Eek! I then told her where it was from and she replied by asking how long ago I bought it, for me to tell her the Christmas sale, her reply? “Ahh shit”.
I then asked her if she was looking forward to fashion week where she told me she was, and that she was coming back for a few shows and her dad’s 70th birthday, which she joked, “won’t quite be like a fashion week knees up”.
What a babe.
I had my photo and she said “it was so lovely to meet you” gave a big smile and I left.
So I’d like to thank Alexa for being a beautiful, polite person!

Nothing Like A Culotte.

How amazing are these culottes?! I saw a blogger wearing them on Instagram about 2 months ago and I finally found them in Primark 2 weeks ago. They said they were £13 and to my luck I went to pay for them and it came up as £5! What a bargain.
I teamed a simple long sleeve black top with my favourite shoes at the minute, and my cute monochrome backpack.

July Favourites.

Ok, so I know we’re like a week into August but hey, better late than never.

So July was so hot here in the UK! The majority of the time it was 26-28degrees, which let’s face it never happens here. So let’s get on with it, here are my July favourites.

1) Garnier I Love My Curls Moose. When I was a kid I had super curly hair, like ringlets. However when I was 3 I apparently excessively brushed my hair and they sadly dropped. My hair is still naturally curly/wavy but using this moose has made my curls a lot better and my hair goes quite curly underneath. Score.

2) Lush’s H’Suan Wen Hua. I love love love this product! I used it about 2 times a month and was able to get about 5 uses out of it. You lather it over your hair before washing and leave it in for 20 minutes then wash your hair like normal. It’s basically protein for your hair but it really works. My hair is always a lot smoother, softer and it just looks a lot better. Even my dad noticed an improvement all on his own.

3) John Lennon Sunglasses. I’ve wanted a pair of sunglasses like this for over a year now but never got round to buying a pair. I bought them on eBay for about £2 (what a bargain).

4) Dupe Birkenstocks. I bought these in Primark for the bargain price of £5! I know, I couldn’t believe it either. I’ve worn them a lot through the month of July as they just look so chic and on trend.

5) My final favourite is a TV show called Parks and Recreation. I’m obsessed with this show! My friend told me about it and in about a week of watching it I’m already on season 4. It is just so funny! It’s kind of like The Office in the way it’s documentary filmed, but I truly recommend it. Oh though be warned, it’s addictive.
